The National Road Safety Week is celebrated from January 11 to January 17 every year with the intention to spread awareness on the importance of road safety and traffic rules. According to the ‘Road Accidents in India’, 4.67 lakh road accidents took place in the year 2021, of which 1.57 lakhs were fatal. To save millions of lives that are endangered nationwide as road safety continues to be a significant concern. With the aim to raise public awareness about Traffic rules, Road Safety Week is observed in all parts of India. The theme for the year 2023 is ‘Sadak Suraksha Jeevan Raksha’, to raise awareness to prevent death and injuries due to road accidents. The campaign emphasizes various measures that people should take to comply with the government’s safety regulations and, as a result, keep themselves and their loved ones safe.
This year, in all our production centres, Grasim Industries Ltd., Chemical Division of Nagda, Karwar, Renukoot, Veraval, Vilayat, Ganjam, Rehla and BB Puram organised various campaigns and awareness drives inside the colonies, school and factory unit. Since, the supply chain of Aditya Birla Chemicals involves transportation of hazardous chemicals from one part to the other, the awakening revolves around Industrial Road Safety where safety standards are educated to all responsible for carrying our consignment in tankers and containers.
The units displayed banners at prominent locations, distributed badges and vehicle inspection was done. Schools and unit members conducted Nukad Natak, Slogan Competition, Poster Competition, Rallies, Awareness Training and Quiz Competition related to cause of road accidents and measures to prevent them. In unit location various trainings such as Defensive Driving Training, Firefighting, Chemical Safety, Hand tool and machine tool safety trainings was organised for Drivers, Firemen, Project Contractors, and Employees. Using digitization, driving classes for Youth-Skill driving program and Logistic Safety VR Module were introduced in the week.
Highlighting the 3 mantras of Road Safety "Start Early” à "Drive Slowly" à "Reach Safely" the unit propagated the cause of safer roads and transportation for all.
