Indo Gulf Fertilisers awarded the "Good Corporate Citizen for Social Welfare"

Indo Gulf Fertilisers (IGF) has bagged the prestigious ‘Good Corporate Citizen for Social Welfare award by the PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industries. The PHD Annual Awards for Excellence were instituted in 1997 to recognize Indian businesses, entrepreneurs and individuals for their outstanding achievements/ contributions which encourages healthy and ethical business practices and create consciousness about the business community’s role towards society and Corporate Social Responsibility.

The Good Corporate Citizen for Social Welfare Award recognizes an organization, which has made an outstanding contribution in the field of Social Work/Community Development & Service/ Environment protection and conservation/ employees development. The award aims to honour companies that continuously innovate and implement sustainable approaches towards becoming socially responsible.

Indo Gulf Fertilisers centers its efforts on community development around five focus areas: Girl Child Education, Health, Sustainable Livelihood, Infrastructural Support, and Social Causes. IGF has undertaken CSR activities in 115 villages in five blocks of Amethi, covering a population of 4.10 lakhs. IGF’s CSR program has had the privilege of serving the community in ways big and small. Some of the company has positively impacted lives are:

  • A multi-specialty hospital run by Indo Gulf Fertilisers treats nearly 1 lakh patients from the community every year
  • The Aditya Birla Public School delivers quality education to 1100 students on a yearly basis
  • The Nirmal Ghar project has constructed and renovated nearly 800 individual household toilets in 3 villages in last 3 years
  • Project Anya has trained young girls in the age group of 16-30 years in Tailoring & Beautician Skills to make them earn their livelihood through village Tailoring Centre & Skill Development Centre. Nearly 700-800 girls are trained every year
  • A Farmers Club has been established to complement the farmers’ incomes. Various activities are conducted like vegetable farming under the Kitchen Garden program, Mushroom Production, Mango Plantation, Meet With the Expert program, Green House construction, and Pond restoration/construction. Every year more than 1500 farmers are benefitted through this Club
  • Nearly 400 youths every year get trained in 5 trades namely: Electrical, Garments Design, Auto Mechanics, Beautician and Electronics & thereafter are given placement
  • More than 2000 school children are covered on yearly basis under various education programmes
  • Nearly 40 leprosy patients are cured in the Leprosy Care Centre
  • Nearly 200 Amputees provided with artificial limb in collaboration with Jaipur Foots every third year
  • Support given to district administration in giving Polio drops to nearly one lakh children
