initiatives: chlor-alkalis
The chlor-alkali division recognises its
responsibility towards health, safety and the environment.
Regular technological upgrades are undertaken to minimise
the consumption of energy , inputs and utilities. For
example, in recent years, mercury technologies were
replaced with state-of-the-art bi-polar membrane cell
technologies well ahead of regulatory requirements at
our plant in Thailand. All our units are certified to
EMS through ISO 14001 standards as well as occupational
safety and health assessment series OHSAS 18001 standards.
While the safety and health of our employees is of utmost
importance to our organisation, the health and safety
of equipment, machinery and facilities is also given
high focus. Training for our employees, workers, contract
work men is conducted regularly to ensure adherence
to safety practices. Safety is a way of life at the
chlor-alkali division. Our commitment towards safety
is on par with the best industries in the world.
We understand our responsibility
towards the environment and are committed to conducting
operations in a manner that is environment friendly.
Our processes are continuously upgraded with an aim
to improve environmental output. We constantly endeavour
to prevent, reduce or control pollution and have made
it a policy to conserve natural resources. Our companies
are accredited with ISO-9001: 2000, ISO-14001:2004,
OSHAS-18001:2007 and SA-8000 certifications. The QA
lab at the Thailand unit is accredited with the ISO/IEC

philosophy of world-class manufacturing practices.
