A boon for food processors
The sulphites division of Aditya Birla
Chemicals offers Birlasol 35, packaged with the customised
handling and process optimisation services, to its customers
in the dehydrated fruit processing industry. Birlasol 35 is
also being successfully tried and embraced by the tapioca
starch manufacturers and shrimp processing industries.
Birlasol 35 is an economical alternative
to sodium metabisulphite powder for certain applications.
This product and its service package saves the end-users'
processing time, improves efficiency and reduces cost per
ton of end-product.
Birlasol 35, which is 35 per cent sodium bisulphite
(NaHSO3) in solution form, can be successfully used with fruits
like pineapple, papaya, mango, guava, ginger, banana, melon
and strawberry. It is a clear, colourless to yellowish solution
containing 34 to 36 per cent sodium metabisulphite or approximately
23 to 24 per cent sulphur dioxide by weight.
There are many advantages of using Birlasol
35. These include:
|
1.
|
Birlasol 35 saves processing
time of dissolution due to high solubility |
|
2.
|
It prevents wastage of sulphur
dioxide, which normally occurs while dissolving sodium
metabisulphite powder in water |
|
3.
|
It is easy to handle — only
a hose is required for the transfer of Birlasol solution |
|
4.
|
Birlasol 35 works out to be
more economical than sodium metabisulphite powder on a
100 per cent content basis |
|
5.
|
It is manufactured using high
purity de-mineralised water |
|
6.
|
Bulk users are supported with
packaged handling system that reduces inventory through
its just-in-time delivery by tank car or intermediate
bulk container (IBC) |
|
7.
|
Saves effort and expense required
for powder grade, as it does away with disposing of empty
bags and protecting unused material from partly used bags |
|
When applied to freshly cut fruits, Birlasol 35 releases
sulphur dioxide, which preserves the fruits during the
subsequent boiling, syrup and dehydration processes.
The product is delivered in PE drums (30 kg and 240
kg), in one MT intermediate bulk containers, and in
bulk tankers. Clients are also supported with customised
storage to suit the customer process.
Other services include:
- Survey of customer facility
- Designing and techno-economic proposal
of bulk system for customer approval
- Safety audit of the bulk system and
design amendments as per recommendation
- Installation of the system at the site
of the customer
- Pre-commission safety audit
